In Barcelona, there is a sleeping Dragon by which everyone is captivated: Casa Batlló. This building was designed by Antoni Gaudí, a Catalan architect whose brilliance was to fuse the wonders of Nature, myths and legends with the architectural laws.
Casa Batlló is the Dragon you can see, feel, touch and even get to love. When you look at its facade, you not only see architecture but also admire the beauty of the legendary animal that wanted to eat the princess. Its roof, sinuously and with scales, simulates the Dragon’s loin; the 5-pointed star, the sword of the knight who killed it; and the solitary balcony, the flower that the princess gave to her beloved hero.
Nevertheless, what captivates the most about his work is not on the facade, but inside. As soon as you enter, apart from going into the Dragon’s entrails, you also enter that submarine world imagined by Jules Verne so as to write his novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea: turtle-shaped windows; different blue and indigo tones of the tiles feigning the bottom of the sea; columns, windows and balconies simulating bones and skulls; stairways resembling either the Dragon’s tail or its dorsal spine;...
The admiration that I have for Gaudí and the astonishment that I feel about his work are my inspiration to create a series of orchestral melodies named “Gaudí Series”. Its cinematographic genre tries to evoke the magic, alchemy, heroism, beauty and vitality of each of the monuments and symbols of Gaudí’s architecture.
I hope that you all enjoy every piece of music that arises from my inspiration, which will complete this collection little by little.
